Position Summary:

Responsible for the overall program planning and administration of a regional dental sealant program.

Duties:

Schedule schools which participate in the sealant program.

Order, store and maintain supplies and equipment; arrange moves of equipment from school to school.

Coordinate the distribution and collection of parental consent forms.

Schedule dentists to perform dental exams.

Screen participants health histories, set up, maintain, and update patient charts

Supervise and evaluate dental sealant staff.

Apply dental sealants to eligible children.

Coordinate equipment maintenance and perform minor repairs.

Prepare follow-up letters to parents, teachers and/or school administrators.

Compile program statistics including participation rates, disease experience, numbers of children examined and sealed, number of sealants applied, etc.

Coordinate Quality Assurance.

Establish and maintain relationships with school administrators, teachers, nurses and the dental community.

Ensure that billing occurs in a timely manner.

Supervision Exercised:

Dental Assistant

Minimum Qualifications:

Registered Dental Hygienist in the State of Ohio holding valid license

Training or experience administering programs and supervising employees

Trained in the use of occlusal sealant materials

Maintains a valid drivers license in Ohio or Kentucky

Required Skills:

Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

Ability to communicate and interact with parents, children, school nurses, teachers and administrators from diverse cultural and racial backgrounds
