The program is able to cover operating costs through Medicaid and Child Health Plus reimbursement. Although reimbursement is less than traditional compensation rates in the community, a highly efficient program consistently allows payment for all direct expenses over the life of the program. Local foundation support continues to provide start-up capital for the program, with a recent grant of $250,000 in 2000.

Eastman Dental covers automobile and liability insurance for the mobile units and malpractice insurance for the providers. A memorandum of understanding is in place with school districts and health departments that are served.
