||Van Structural Considerations
f. What are the advantages of building a commercial vehicle vs. purchasing one already designed?
Space in a vehicle is a compromise in comparison to a fixed site. If you build from the ground up, you decide what is most important to your program instead of a non-dental professional deciding the best floor plan for the program. There are many choices, as you can select and design your floor plan, colors for the interior and placement of equipment. Many manufacturers have a standard floor plan designed to get the job done and place the equipment. Sometimes these plans do not take into consideration the people who have to work there. The vehicle is a work site for several people that must be as ergonomically effective as possible. Input from dental professionals will make the vehicle design closer to that goal.
